REPRESENTATIVE NICHOLAS NOW PROPOSING SUPPORT
FOR BILLS HE JUST OPPOSED
I received a political flyer in the mail from 12-year incumbent Bob Nicholas, House District 7.
On the flyer, Representative Nicholas stated that he will “Protect Our Land From Foreign
Ownership.” However, during the 2023 and 2024 legislative sessions, he voted against HB116
(2023) Prohibiting Foreign Property Ownership In Wyoming, HB0168 (2024) Foreign ownership
of Wyoming agricultural lands, SF0102 (2024)- Foreign property ownership-critical
infrastructure, and SJ0002 (2024) - Foreign adversaries-prohibited property ownership. The
latter two bills were sponsored by Senator Cheri Steinmetz with 24 co-sponsors. I testified at his
Appropriations Committee: https://tinyurl.com/5fd9jhyt (Start-time/1:04:30-1:50:55;
comments: 1:30:00) Because Nicholas' committee refused to vote on these two bills, foreign
adversaries like China could continue to buy land near Wyoming's critical national
security infrastructure. His flyer states that he would protect Wyoming, so why hasn’t he done
this already by working with Senator Steinmetz on her two bills? Further, his flyer also states
that he supported “Keeping Only Women in Women’s Sports.” However, Mr. Nicholas voted
against HB50 What Is A Woman Act, (2024) SF133 Student Eligibility In Interscholastic
Sports,(2023) SF009 Parental Rights in Education, (2024) and SF117 Parental Rights In
Education (2023). Why did he vote against these bills while now claiming to favor these issues?
Mr. Nicholas’s many flyers paint a very positive picture of himself, but his track record on bills
such as those mentioned above shouldn’t inspire any confidence that he'll keep his re-election
campaign promises. Rather, Nicholas promises to do what he has already refused to do, using
these issues to bait the uninformed voter. Knowing this, perhaps we should have a look at what
else he has failed to deliver on during his contradictory 12-year career?
You can check Mr. Nicholas’s voting record, or any legislator, at https://wyoleg.gov.
After doing my research on Representative Nicholas, I’ll be voting for the other HD7 candidate.
